Maya Soaps

Beautification plays a part in all cultures. Our friends in the Chiapas highlands gave us these little gems depicting their noble ancestors decked out in the regalia of the times: feathered headdresses, jade necklaces and earplugs. Of course, the Maya today have adopted a more minimalist, post-industrial style which suits them fine. But I reminded them to save those headdresses and earplugs because fashion is circular and those things are bound to come back into style!
