Notes on drawing:
As a conceptual artist, I rely on hybrid sources in the production of an artwork, which means I don't always get to exhibit the drawings that I make, however fundamental they are to my practice. But for me, making a drawing is as close to an unmediated form of thought and expression as I can imagine. My drawings often precede a larger, more theatrical project, and in doing so I see them as records of not only my thoughts, but my evaluations of my thoughts--the timidity, uncertainty, and anxiety that accompany giving birth to a new idea.
